What is a bicycle headset wrench used for?
This is a cycling tool with a very specific purpose - to adjust the cup and locknut in a threaded headset. Also known as a bike headset spanner, this tool is thinner than your standard open-ended wrench. Typically, you would use two wrenches in parallel simultaneously to make the necessary adjustments. So why do you need to make these adjustments in the first place? A loose headset can damage the bike’s steering or headtube integrity. Listen out for clunking or knocking noises coming from the front of the bike as this is often a telltale sign.
What size bicycle headset wrench size do I need?
We stock bicycle headset spanner sizes ranging from 34 to 44mm, with most common sizes lying in the 34 - 36mm range. If your headset is an older 1” model then aim for the smaller-sized spanners.
