How to Put Front Wheel on Mountain Bike

If your front mountain bike wheel features a through-axle versus a quick release, follow these easy installation steps:

1. Flip the bike upside down and balance it securely using the bicycle saddle and bars.
2. Insert the front MTB wheel into the fork dropouts (the rotor needs to sit in between the brake pads and the caliper if you have disc brakes).
3. Grease your through-axle threads.
4. The through-axle lever needs to sit in an almost vertical position in front of the fork leg.
5. Has closing the lever left an imprint on your palm? That’s a good sign that you have secured it tightly enough.
