The Northwave and Team Sky’s athlete claimed Tour de la Provence’s opening prologue, in France, with Extreme Pro shoes
It was a perfect 2019 road debut, and an unforgettable first in a Team Sky jersey: Northwave’s Filippo Ganna won Tour de la Provence’s opening prologue, in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer (France), on Thursday February 14th.
With Northwave Extreme Pro shoes, the 22-year-old Italian rider clocked in 10:05, preceding Dutchman Sebastian Langeveld (+9”) and Frenchman Rémi Cavagna (+10”). Ganna leads the overall standings, as well as the Points and Young Riders’ Classifications.
Ganna’s first win in road cycling came with two weeks to the start of the UCI Track World Championships, to be held in Pruszkòw (Poland) from February 27th to March 3rd, where the reigning Individual Pursuit World Champion will try to defend the title claimed last year in Apeldoorn (Netherlands).
Another Northwave’s rider, Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana Pro Team), finished fourth in the Tour Colombia 2.1 stage 3 (Llanogrande - Llanogrande, 167,6 Km), as Juan Sebastian Molano clinched victory ahead of Julian Alaphilippe and Diego Ochoa. Rigoberto Uran took over the overall leadership.
