In a completely mapped world, we want to reactivate our instinct for exploration and contemplation, rediscovering the nature of the term landscape.
Defining Lost in Prealps is something difficult if the goal is to place it in a category, we like to think of it as a container of ideas, some of which become tangible products, such as our event, publications and collaborations. Born five years ago as a global call to bikepacking, it has evolved over time earning the title of best event in the Treviso Prealps. This project has always focused on the bike as the best means of exploration, photography with the aim of telling the story of the territory and the format free from time constraints, to better appreciate the breath taking views and the wild atmosphere that these mountains offer. Last year it was not possible to organize the usual meeting because of the world emergency situation, and it was a good reason to stop and think about some important points that put us in front of a question: are we still able to go out there and get lost and then find ourselves again? We ride our bikes all dolled up, with our fashionable outfits on, with one eye always on the navigation system. But do we still remember the sense of loss, the fear of not being able to find our way back, the feeling we get when we ring a stranger’s doorbell to ask for directions? We live in a particular historical moment where technology and services allow multiple experiences, yes, but in the comfort zone. Let’s be clear, we love beautiful bicycles, we love to ride on handcrafted vehicles and we don’t miss anything in terms of bags and equipment to live the best of our adventures, but we try to keep a spotlight on the term Lost, which is first of all a philosophy. Lost is an attitude to research and a way to experience space in a slow way, free from time constraints. These are the ideals that we try to convey to the public through our communication, publications and events. The current year will still be full of uncertainties, but we are confident that the fifth edition of Lost in Prealps will happen one way or another. We want to gather everyone in the centre of the Prealps, a place that is important to us nestled in a plateau from which we can see the Venetian Lagoon to the south and the Dolomites to the north. Reaching this location by bike will give participants the opportunity to enjoy a weekend in freedom, away from the chaotic daily life, in the company of fans and lovers of the outdoors. The end of the route will culminate in the finish line which, as always, will simply be a great party!
